I don’t know about you but I live my life on a budget every day. Just surviving every day finances and responsibilities can be rough. One thing I make time for is making life long memories. No better way to create those special moments than by taking a vacation. You may say “I can’t afford a pricey vacation right now!”
No worries that is what Just Ask Kiky is here for! I don’t know who first pinned Staycation but there are some great benefits to vacationing in your home town. If you get creative and take some time to explore, you may find a paradise in your backyard. The best thing is you can have a blast from little to NO money!
My recent exploration with friends and family has allowed me to combine exercise with boutique shopping. Best combo ever! Here in Indianapolis we have several walking trails. One in particular that travels through the middle of a boutique haven is called Broadripple. At several points along the trail there are pockets of unique small businesses and restaurants. We ran across several that caught our interest.

Locally Grown Gardens is a French inspired farmer’s market type restaurant. Dinner is served after 5pm. During the day, they sell fresh in season vegetables, imported olive oils and vinegars, along with French made china and locally made items and sodas. They also make homemade pies out of in season fruit.

The Dancing Donut is a vegan & gluten free donut shop owned by the same owner of The Flying Cupcake. Come check out some over the top delicious donuts like Exclair Huxtable or the Kevin Bacon (very tasty if I say so!). This donut shop knows donuts. You find a unique assortment that can change daily. They do the baking at the start of the day and go until they sell out.

Agarian Indy was a big surprise. Their biggest product is baby chickens. Yep you heard it right. You can buy cute baby chicks and everything you need to raise them. You can harvest your own eggs for breakfast and get a new pet. They also specialize in bee hive set ups as well. You can purchase Indiana made items and learn a boatload about live stock and honey. If nothing else stop by to take a look at all the cute chicks..
